Penn High School was designed to create one of the most progressive academic environments in the country. HMFH, in association with Greiner, Inc., was responsible for the 460,000 sq.ft. renovation and addition project that houses the 2400 students served by the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation.

Called a "high school for the 21st Century," Penn was among the first public high schools in the country to have a fully integrated voice/video/data infrastructure. A sophisticated video system allows teachers to have full remote control over various media sources in a centralized Telecommunications Center.

More visible improvements include a 16,000 sq. ft. Library/IMC at the heart of the school. A new fine and performing arts wing includes a flexible black box space, 900-seat theater, rehearsal and performance rooms, scenery shop, dance studios, and fine arts studios.

The 94,420 sq. ft. athletic complex includes a main gym with balcony and press box; swimming pool with entry pool; auxiliary gym; handball courts; wrestling, weight, and training rooms; and locker and support areas.
