The addition to the Martha's Vineyard
Regional High School contained 28,000 SF and houses eight interchangeable classrooms,
a typing classroom, a health careers classroom, and three vocational shops: an
auto/marine mechanics shop, a house carpentry shop, and a culinary arts kitchen
and dining room. Building materials were chosen
that reflect typical Vineyard character. The owner's desire for energy conservation
enabled HMFH to create exciting building forms using passive solar heating and
daylighting technology.
