In 1999, the Beaver Country Day School embarked on a master
planning process to meet its growing academic program, accommodate planned growth
in enrollment, and maintain its standard of educational excellence. In 1926, the
independent school established a new campus on this 24-acre site Chestnut Hill,
MA. Several subsequent expansions have left little room for additional growth.
The school now serves 700 students in grades 6-12. HMFH Architects was
hired in early 2002 to plan and design an expansion and renovation of the existing
campus to address program needs in performing arts, visual arts, and athletics.
During the initial design phase, HMFH will develop a detailed space program and
several alternative approaches to the location and organization of new space.
In addition to providing much needed program space for performing arts, visual
arts and athletics, the expansion plan will address issues of accessibility, expand
outdoor playing fields, and improve traffic circulation and parking on the site.
New construction will replace some underused and inadequate facilities and, where
possible, lay the groundwork for continued future expansion. | Choose
