Saugus Middle/High School

Construction of the new Saugus Middle/High School is underway following two successful Town Votes, for the new educational facility and implementation of a district-wide master plan. The new school will support student-centered learning and provide engaging spaces for collaboration. Both the middle and high schools will be organized as academic pods, each with classrooms, support spaces and specialty classrooms located around open project areas. Specialty classrooms will include cutting-edge technology labs for coding, robotics, video production, and fine and performing arts. The project areas will support interdisciplinary team teaching and create a STEAM zone for the district’s robust educational programs.

The school will be designed to reflect its surroundings and the town’s history and culture with site elements that recall the Saugus river and representations of the historical Saugus Iron Works. Sited adjacent to Route 1, super-graphics and projecting windows arrayed in a rhythmic pattern will imbue the building with a sense of movement while also signifying the importance of the new Middle/High school to the community and those driving by.
