Saugus Middle/High School

The new 271,000 SF Saugus Middle/High School is scheduled to open in 2020. Grade-level pods with collaboration spaces, STEAM zones, and fabrication labs foster a learning environment that inspires hands-on learning and supports the town’s educational model. Separate middle and high school wings grouped into grade-level classroom pods are situated on either side of shared spaces such as the gymnasium, auditorium, library, and administrative offices—allowing both schools to access these centrally located spaces as well as members of the community after school hours, when academic areas are closed off.

Sited adjacent to Route 1, the school is designed to reflect its surroundings and the town’s culture. Careful color selections give grade-level pods distinct identities that speak to Saugus history, corresponding to monumental, dynamic wall graphics throughout the school that represent and impart facets of that history—including the historical Saugus Iron Works, lobster, and ice industries.
