Shaughnessy and Bailey
Elementary Schools

These two new PK-4 schools, identical structures with identical programs, are located adjacent to existing schools, creating a PK-8 campus environment. The building program called for housing 450 students in grades PK-4 with 15 full-sized classrooms, special education rooms, art, music and science rooms, an IMC, gym and cafetorium, clustering by grade level, and equal access to the shared facilities for all students. The two facilities are thematically different: the Shaughnessy School’s program is humanities; the Bailey has an international focus. Prototypical components were adapted to different site conditions and the differing themes.
