Laura’s belief in the transformative power of a well-designed learning environment helped shape HMFH’s culture and practice. With her deep knowledge of students’ social, emotional, and pedagogical needs, she guided countless communities in creating educational programs uniquely suited to their goals, curricula, and cultures. Laura brought these ideas to life through her visionary leadership, from an innovative elementary school learning commons concept to a career technical campus design that integrated science and environmental education with sustainability strategies that conserve water, energy, and carbon. Known for her spirited enthusiasm and commitment to bettering communities through design, Laura was often involved in local organizations to promote a more equitable and sustainable built environment. She previously served as President of the Boston Society for Architecture (BSA) and now helps maintain their commitment to educating the public—particularly youth—about the importance of architecture and design through her role as a Trustee of the BSA’s nonprofit partner, Architecture In Common.
I believe good design has the power to enhance people’s lives and make the world a better place, one project at a time.
