Principal Emeritus

Laura’s belief in the transformative power of a well-designed learning environment helped shape HMFH’s culture and practice. With her knowledge of students’ social, emotional, and pedagogical needs, she guided countless communities in creating an educational program uniquely suited to their goals, programs, and culture. Laura’s design leadership brought these visions to life, resulting in meaningful architecture, from an innovative elementary school learning commons concept to a campus design that integrates a highly technical program rooted in science and environmental education with sustainable design strategies that conserve water, energy, and carbon. Known for her spirited enthusiasm and commitment to bettering communities through design, Laura was often involved in local organizations to promote a more equitable and sustainable built environment. Since serving as President of the Boston Society for Architecture (BSA), Laura has worked to reinvigorate the BSA Foundation’s commitment to educating the public—particularly youth—about the importance of architecture and design.

I believe good design has the power to enhance people’s lives and make the world a better place, one project at a time.
