Butler Middle School

  • Students 600
  • Grades 5-8
  • Size 95,000 ft2

HMFH was initially hired to analyze the suitability of reusing an existing elementary school for a new middle school. Alternative schemes were developed and it was determined that a new school would be the more cost-effective solution.

In keeping with this magnet school’s technology theme, both traditional and state-of-the-art technologies are taught side by side in the technology labs, where all students participate in project-oriented learning.

The media center, library and computer rooms are centrally located as the physical and thematic focus of the school. Networked to every classroom, the IMC is the school’s information and research center. The entire school is networked for interactive telecommunications, and is linked with the Central School Department systems.
