A study performed by HMFH Architects determined that this high school campus, comprised of seven separate structures dating from the 1960s and the 1970s, needed extensive renovations to building systems and the building envelope.
The first phase of repairs concentrated on the main academic buildings, and included replacement of the HVAC system as well as improvements to the buildings’ appearance, such as new roofs and replacement of deteriorated aluminum and glass walls with new, better insulated brick and window walls. Work also included reorganization of the guidance and counseling services into a central student services center, new department offices and resource centers, a new large-group instructional space, and refurbished corridors and other public spaces.
Extensive repairs to the seven structures that comprise this campus were done in two phases over the course of several years.
In the second phase of improvements, renovations included extensive HVAC improvements to large gathering spaces such as the Cafeteria, Library, and Gymnasiums. The renovation work also included accessibility improvements to the entire school.
