Falxa House
Cambridge, MA
The awarded-winning private residence is situated on historic Brattle Street and nestled among a showcase of 18th and 19th century residential architecture. Situated on a corner parcel that was subdivided from a much larger 19th century estate, this home’s form reflects the unusual shape of the parcel, city zoning regulations dictating usable building area, and deed restrictions preserving sight lines of the neighboring mansion.
- Completed 1972
- Size 5140 ft2

The result is triangular structure that respectfully meets its neighbors on the exterior while creating boldly geometric interior spaces. Designed for a young and growing family, the home is divided into two primary zones. The living room, study, breakfast room, gallery, dining room and master bedroom can be opened into a series of entertaining spaces, which also serve as a sculptural backdrop for the owners’ growing art collection. A children’s wing, with three bedrooms and a playroom, is acoustically separated from the rest of the house.
